Energizer Solar - FAQ’s

Below are some frequently asked questions.

Please see troubleshooting and answer’s below. If you require more support, please get in contact here so we can assist your enquiry.

  • We recommend setting a minimum SOC of 10% for your battery system.

  • In principle, all our devices have a Residual Current Monitoring Unit (RCMU) installed -> use a type A and at least 40A /100mA. A 30mA device is too sensitive.

  • You can use the "Charge Time" function in the Energizer Solar app or web portal to specify a "time window" where the inverter is allowed to charge.

  • If you would like to add additional solar panels, then you are able to install a hybrid inverter with a Powerstack battery system. If your existing solar system is sufficient then you can install an AC battery charger with a Powerstack battery system. You will need a second smart meter added to your system to be able to read the solar power generation from your existing solar system. Talk to your local installer on a DC/Hybrid or AC coupling solution.

  • The guide can be found here.

  • Batteries with a low SOC will be damaged if the temperature falls below zero degrees Celsius. That's why our system has an automatic "fallback temperature" (3°C), which means the software will instruct the system to automatically charge back up to 60%. This is to maintain your battery health in colder environments.

  • If you have created the wrong account name, the only option is to create a new account with the correct name. Please contact us for more information on how to do this if you have any issues.

If you have forgotten your password, go to the login screen of your Energizer Solar app or web portal, there you have the option to click on “Forgotten Password”. This will email you a “Reset Password” link to your email address which you used to setup your account. Please contact us for more information on how to do this if you have any issues.

  • If no email address was entered when the account was first set up, please contact us to help reset your password and enter your email address.

  • If your inverter or other device is not working properly, you should contact your installer who will be able to check the system and manage the process to identify and fix any issues including an exchange. If you have any issues with your installer then we ask you to get in contact via the Technical Service Enquiry details page.

Please include the serial number, pictures of the fault, your meter connection point and your address. If the device is found to be defective, a new device will be sent to you by our logistic company and a qualified installer will be required. You should contact your installer who installed the system originally to do any electrical exchange work or if this installer is no longer available, then a qualified Energizer Solar installer can be organised to do any work.

The defective device must be returned in the original box of the replacement inverter sent to your home and will be collected for return.

  • If you would like to develop your own controls (Ioxone, Homematic, etc.) you can use the Modbus registers. Please contact our technical services team to discuss your project. We will require an NDA to be signed and send back to the service team before any corresponding Modbus register details for your device would be sent to you.

  • We only install updates after consultation and approval from the customer. This can be done both “remotely” via the Energizer Solar Portal and directly on the device via a USB stick (Version 2.0). Automatic updates are currently not activated.

  • For Germany low voltage, please refer to the VDE ARN4105 standard (if PV System < 135kW). For PV systems > 135 kw you must set the VDE ARN 4110.

For Austria please: the network code “TOR Generator Type A” and for Switzerland please the grid code “NAEEA-NE7-CH2020” and/or VDE ARN 4105

For all other regions select your local standard from the menu.

  • When making the settings, the device is set to STOP at the factory; this must be actively set to START for safety reasons. This must happen directly on the display. You must also activate the “main-unit” here on the display in the “main-sub” system.

  • This is only a “backup” function for emergency power supply. This means that you should only really connect loads that you absolutely need in the event of a blackout. The power that can be delivered per phase is between 1.4 kW (HT with 3 battery modules) and up to 3.4 kW / phase (HT with 7 battery stacks) AU and USA is higher. The switching time is < 20 ms. If you want to supply the entire house with emergency power, you need an external “emergency power supply (EPS)” box.

  • If the battery was working correctly before this issue, please update the firmware on your system via the Energizer Solar portal or USB. Otherwise, please check when commissioning whether the BMS (battery management system) and the units have the right version. Make sure that the rotary switch on the BMS is set correctly according to the number of sub-unit modules installed on your system.

H series: number of sub-units minus 1 (AIO series: number of battery modules minus 2).

  • A three-phase meter, CHINT DTSU666, should always be used with a three-phase network even when using a single-phase hybrid inverter.

  • Please check the manual.

    • HS (pin 1 -> 25, pin 2 -> 24)

    • HT (pin 3 -> 25, pin 4 ->24)

  • The Wi-Fi dongle is including in the product packaging. You will need to order a LAN or 4G dongle separately if required.

  • All Energizer Solar products are available to select via PV Sol in Europe and OpenSolar in Australia/New Zealand.

  • We recommend setting a minimum SOC of 10% for your battery system.

  • You would have received the cos phi setting from your energy supplier when the grid feed-in is determined. You will enter this into the settings page of your system in the setting value named cos phi e.g., -0.9. You can make this change in either the Energizer Solar Mobile app or the Energizer Solar portal.

  • There are 2 ways to update the devices: The software update works best via the Energizer Solar portal. You must register your device via the Energizer Solar Mobile app or the Energizer Solar portal to be able perform a software update. There is also the option of updating the device via a USB stick, but via the portal is the recommended method. Please contact support if you have any issues.

  • It is recommended that with "Dual MPPT" inverters, the strings must always be of the same length (e.g. 18 modules or 20 modules) and same power.

  • In the Energizer Solar app or web portal there is a setting that allows you to set how and when the battery can be recharged. You should set your battery to recharge from 8 a.m. in the morning until 8 p.m. in the evening if this is a concern.

  • This is correct, in the new version of the Energizer Solar app or web portal this will be broken out and reported separately, that is, PV yield and battery yield.

  • The devices used to measure the data for the Energizer Solar app or web portal and the utility measurements are separate smart meters. The smart meters can have low measurement tolerance difference and have different measurement time intervals. Because of these factors the measurements can have small deviations which result in measurement inaccuracies.

  • Set your existing battery Powerstack to 30-40% State of Charge (SoC), this is approximately the SoC with which you should receive the new sub-unit. Measure the voltages at the DC (+/-) contacts on both the new module and the existing stack – the allowed Voltage difference must not be greater than 0.5 V. If these two things are correct, then you can easily add new battery module to the battery Powerstack and restart the system. The Battery Management System (BMS) then equilibrates the entire Powerstack.

  • As an installer, it is best to choose the Representative account as either an “Installer” role or "Agent". This gives you the most amount of setting options in the Energizer Solar app or web portal. You will then receive an Installer of Agent code, which you can give to the end customer during installation when they create an account in the Energizer Solar app or web portal. Once the code is successfully entered in the system, the customer is assigned to the correct Installer account which in turn is assigned to the correct Agent account. This allows you to keep an eye on all end customer systems that have been installed and are associated to your Representative account, either Installer or Agent.

  • In the previous version of the Hybrid Battery, the Battery cables supplied were 1.25 metres long. We have now adjusted this to 3 meters, which should be sufficient for most use cases.

  • There are 2 options: You can buy a hybrid inverter (HT or HS) with batteries (incl. 2nd SmartMeter) or you can purchase an AC battery charger system (so-called AT or AS system)

  • The pairing password for the Wi-Fi module is: mtmt2020. The Wi-Fi module in your connections list starts with a “w” when you are looking for it in the Wi-Fi connections list. Once you have connected to the Wi-Fi connection from your smartphone, you are able to connect the Wi-Fi module to your router by following the Wi-Fi connection steps guide included with your Wi-Fi Module.

  • You can extend your warranty up to a maximum warranty period of 25 years. To extend your warranty you will need to go through your installer or wholesaler.

  • This will be possible in the near future in conjunction with myPV.

Once this has been made available, myPV can then be used to control the heating rods with either 3kw, 5kw or even 9kw. This will mean that all excess solar generation will be used to heat the heating rods and no excess solar generation will be fed into the grid.

  • You can connect a minimum of 3 battery modules in a Powerstack, 1 main and 2 subs, and a maximum of 7 battery modules, 1 main and 6 subs to a HT (3-Phase) inverter. You can connect a minimum of 2 battery modules in a Powerstack, 1 main and 1 sub, and a maximum of 7 battery modules, 1 main and 6 subs to a HS (Single Phase) inverter.

  • The warranty period starts on the day of commissioning or 6 months from the manufactured date of the product, whichever comes first. You can find out current warranty conditions here.

  • You can register your device through the Energizer Solar app or web portal.
